Award Winning Art Gallery
Turner Contemporary is a dynamic visual arts organisation that believes in making art open, relevant and fulfilling for all.
Inspired by JMW Turner’s sense of enquiry, we offer a space for everyone to embrace their curiosity and to discover different ways of seeing, thinking and learning.
The building is situated on the exact same site as the ‘Cold Harbour’ guest house where Turner stayed on his frequent visits to Margate, recreating his original view and capturing the same unique Thanet light that inspired many of his works.
Shops, Cafes, Galleries, Pubs and Restaurants
Margate Old Town is steeped in history. Dating back to the time it was a sleepy little fishing hamlet to the halcyon days of the Dreamland era, there have been an amazing array of events that have shaped the Old Town.
Home to a unique selection of niche shops, places to grab a bit to eat and have a drink, now known as the creative quarter of Margate with its range of galleries.
Behind the Piazza, situated on the Parade opposite the harbour and walking back through the Market Street, Duke Street or King Street, you'll find quirky shops with friendly proprietors providing an alternative shopping experience.
Europe's Oldest Theme Park
Dreamland was one of the UK’s best-loved amusement parks and at one time listed within the UK’s top ten visitor attractions.
The UK's original Pleasure Park is being re-imagined, ready to welcome a new generation of fun-seeking visitors to an 'old fashioned, yet oh-so-fashionable' world of thrills, amusements and good times.
Where else in the UK can you clamber aboard a host of stylishly restored, recreated and retro-fitted rides and amusements from the Golden Age of British seaside holidays?
There will be more than just brilliant retro rides and amusements. Dreamland will be a world where vintage cool holds hands with modern design, and goes for a lovely beachside stroll.
Not to mention film screenings, concerts and amazing installations too. All part of the great big happy day out that will be Dreamland Margate.
We are new to the holiday letting business and have been inspired by the recent interest in Margate; we are both from the area and know that it has a lot to offer. It has become very popular with visitors coming to see our places of interest such as the Turner Contemporary and our beautiful beaches. We will be meeting you and showing you our lovely apartment, and we hope that you enjoy your stay.
